Building a custom spa is a different beast than building a pool because you’re dealing with high-pressure plumbing and serious heat retention. In the desert, the biggest enemy is the nighttime temperature drop that sucks the warmth right out of the water. Our approach to new spa construction in Tucson AZ, uses a “thermal-lock” method, thick shotcrete walls and high-density insulation that keeps the heat in the water instead of letting it bleed into the cold ground.
We don’t do those generic, uncomfortable benches. Every seat is custom-contoured during the masonry phase to fit your height and preferred soak depth. We use dedicated manifold plumbing, basically a high-flow heart for the spa, so you don’t lose jet pressure when someone else is using a different seat. From pulling the heavy-load electrical permits to breaking through the caliche rock, we handle the entire mechanical install so the system actually hits 104 degrees when you need it to.
Most backyard spas feel like an afterthought, but we build them to be the anchor of the yard. We look at the literal wind patterns on your lot to figure out where to place the structure so you aren’t shivering the second you step out of the water. Whether it’s a raised “zero-edge” spillover that flows into a pool or a secluded inground retreat tucked away for privacy, our design service is about the physics of the space, not just the look.
The installation phase is where the real mess happens. We’re on-site every day watching the dig and the plumbing runs to make sure every pipe is perfect before it gets covered up. You won’t have to hunt down a contractor or spend your afternoon at city hall, we handle the inspectors and the heavy equipment from start to finish. To wrap it up, we use materials like slate or silver travertine that feel good on your skin and won’t shatter during a deep Pima County freeze.
Expect the job to last 6 to 10 weeks. Most of that time is just waiting on city inspectors or hammering through buried rock to get the plumbing lines deep enough.
Not if the engineering is solid. We install variable-speed pumps and high-efficiency gas heaters that get the water hot fast and hold the temperature without draining your wallet.
A dedicated custom build usually starts around $20k. The price goes up depending on how many therapy jets we plumb in and the type of custom stone work you want for the exterior.
We only use high-grade, UV-stabilized materials. Cheap plastic will turn brittle in the Arizona heat, so we stick to components designed to sit in the sun for years without failing.
Just call us for a site visit. We need to check your main electrical panel and the soil grade before we can give you a firm price and start the design.
